Following Jesus: Loving Like Jesus

A message from James Holloway, delivered on October 18, 2026.

What does it really mean to love others the way Jesus loves us? In this message from the Following Jesus series, we explore Jesus’ command to love our neighbors as ourselves and His example of humble, sacrificial love. As we grow to become more like Jesus, that transformation should become visible in the way we treat others.

Loving like Jesus isn’t always easy. Relationships can be complicated, and people carry experiences, emotional wounds, fears, and responsibilities that aren’t always visible. Through Scripture, we examine the difference between showing genuine love and simply enjoying someone’s company, while recognizing how pride, bitterness, prejudice, and past hurts can become obstacles to loving others.

Jesus calls His followers to demonstrate compassion, humility, forgiveness, and practical care for one another. This doesn’t mean ignoring healthy boundaries or pretending we have unlimited resources. It means allowing Jesus to continue transforming our hearts so that His love becomes increasingly evident in our everyday relationships.
