What To Look For When Searching For A New Church
Finding a new church can feel like a big decision. This is especially true if you’re new to the area, growing in your faith journey, or just want a place where you truly belong. Here are a few things to look for as you begin searching for a new church.

A Few Questions to Ask
1. Do You Feel Valued?
A good church will make you feel seen, known, and accepted, just as you are. At Unify Church, one of our core values is that you matter. Every person has purpose and a place in our community. When you visit, notice whether people greet you, whether you can connect with others, and whether leaders genuinely care about your story.
2. Is Spiritual Growth Encouraged?
Growth doesn’t happen in isolation. Unify Church emphasizes thriving, not just attending. Look for a church that offers chances to grow: small groups, Bible teaching, prayer, and ways to serve. A church that supports your faith journey will help you deepen your relationship with God.
3. Are You Invited Into Community?
Church isn’t just a place you go once a week, it’s a community that you belong to every day, regardless of what’s going on in your life. At Unify Church, we prioritize connection. We help people build real relationships, share life together, and support one another. When checking out a church, pay attention to how people interact, how they follow up with newcomers, and whether there are opportunities to join a small group or serve with others.
4. Does the Church Live Out Its Faith?
Faith means more than Sunday worship. Unify Church believes in serving and going… caring for our neighbors… using our resources well… and sharing God’s love in practical ways. Ask about the church’s outreach or service programs. Do they serve locally? Globally? Do they encourage members to use their gifts to help others?
5. Is There Joy and Celebration?
Faith is serious, but it’s also joyful. One of Unify’s core values is rejoicing in every occasion. Whether in worship, life milestones, or moments of transformation, we choose to celebrate what God is doing in and through His people. A church that celebrates well is one where people feel hope, gratitude, and encouragement.
6. Is the Teaching Grounded and Trustworthy?
For many of us, we want to know the teaching is based in Scripture and aligned with a clear understanding of God. At Unify Church, our beliefs are rooted in the Bible, centered on Jesus, and shaped by the truth that God is one in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. When visiting, pay attention to how sermons are taught: is the Bible at the center? Are real-life questions addressed? Does the teaching feel honest and relevant?
The Bottom Line
When you’re looking for a new church, try to visit a few, ask questions, and give yourself time. A place that truly values you, helps you grow, connects you with others, lives out its commitment to serve, celebrates life, and teaches with integrity is a great starting point.
