Sermon Series: Burning Hearts (Part 3) | Do You Love Me?

After His resurrection, Jesus met His disciples again on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. In this deeply personal encounter, the focus turns to Simon Peter, a disciple who had boldly followed Jesus but had also denied Him three times on the night of His arrest. The question hanging over Peter’s life was simple but significant: What happens after failure?
In John 21, Jesus does not respond to Peter with condemnation or rejection. Instead, He restores him. Through a series of questions centered on love and devotion, Jesus reveals that failure is not the end of the story for those who come to Him. Restoration is followed by responsibility, and Peter is commissioned to care for Christ’s people and continue following Him faithfully.
Jesus’ conversation with Peter reminds us that discipleship is rooted in relationship before responsibility. Love for Christ is expressed through obedience, care for others, and perseverance through difficulty. The same Savior who restored Peter calls His followers to love Him, care for His people, and remain faithful even when the path is costly.
